Megan Clutter

Megan Clutter is a Benicia native who began her dance training with Stage One Dance Center at the age of three. She studied ballet, tap, jazz, cheer, acro, lyrical, pointe, and hip hop at Stage One Dance Center where she was a company member for eight years. At Stage One Dance Center, Megan was awarded “Dancer of the Year” in 2001. After her sophomore year of high school, Megan attended Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s summer intensive on scholarship and soon decided to focus her training in classical ballet technique. In 2006 she began training with the City Ballet School in San Francisco where she performed soloist roles in Paquita and The Nutcracker. Upon graduating high school, Megan attended Texas Christian University on a faculty awarded dance scholarship before transferring to the University of Washington where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a major in dance in June of 2011. While living in Seattle, Megan is working as lead ballet/pointe instructor, choreographer, and rehearsal director for various studios in the Seattle Metropolitan Area. Additionally, she is currently dancing professionally with ÆON Contemporary Dance Company under the direction of Joseph Schanbeck. Words do not describe how thankful Megan is to have grown up and developed in the studios at Stage One Dance Center where she received a strong classical technique, an eclectic vocabulary of dance styles, and an appreciation and respect for the art she has dedicated her life to. At Stage One Dance Center, Megan’s dreams and passions were nurtured, valued, and shared and she hopes to continue to be able to share her passion and love of dance with everyone she encounters in life!

Allison Gray

ALLISON GRAY

ALLISON GRAY

Allison “Alli” Gray stepped onto the performing stage at the age of five, and has continued to pursue dance as one of her greatest life passions. She is a proud alumnus of Stage One Dance Center! Relocating from Los Angeles to Benicia, Alli received her fundamental training at Stage One from the age of 10 in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical. While at Stage One, she was a member the North Bay Performing Arts Dance Companies. Through her Stage One experience, Alli had the incredible good fortune to grow in her dance technique, stage presence, and leadership abilities. Stage One fostered the innate confidence for Alli to be able to actively pursue a career in dance. Based on her years of study and preparation, Alli fulfilled her long time ambition in 2005 to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), majoring in World Arts and Culture with a concentration in Dance. During her four-year tenure at UCLA, she further developed her technical and choreography skills and was a featured artist in both student and professional productions. In 2009, Alli studied abroad in Burkina Faso, West Africa where she trained in traditional African dance and music. This life-changing trip gave her an abundance of knowledge, joy, and a unique perspective on the international culture of dance! Alli graduated with honors and earned a B.F.A degree from UCLA in June 2010. Alli is currently a member of Versa Style — a hip hop dance ensemble that creates highly energetic work representing the diversity, history, and beauty of Hip Hop dance and culture. She is also co-founder/artistic director of Soul Lab Dance Project, an emerging all-female dance collective. Alli shares her passion and commitment to the arts by teaching dance to students at school/after-school programs in the Los Angeles area. She is blessed to be able to dance everyday and gives thanks to those who support and believe in her! Stage One sparked an intense flame and passion for dance that has allowed Alli to continue to grow, transition, and thrive as an individual and artist! Thank You, Miss Julie!

Vanessa Hernandez

Vanessa Hernandez

Vanessa Hernandez

Vanessa Hernandez is a professional actor/singer/dancer in New York City. Vanessa’s journey to the stage began when she was six years old at Stage One Dance Center. Though the technique of dance did not come as easily to her as it did others at the studio, Julie never made her feel like a bad dancer. Instead, Julie saw a different gift/talent that made Vanessa unique in her own way. She saw the bud of a stage performer desperately wanting to bloom. Julie took that bud and encouraged the creativity in Vanessa to come out and play. Vanessa’s favorite memory takes place in the studio when she would arrive 10 mins early to class and Julie would let her play the soundtrack to “Gypsy”. Vanessa would have the entire dance floor to herself to belt the songs at the top of her lungs. She would get lost in that world, letting out all of her new found love for musical theater. Julie made that studio Vanessa’s home. She felt safe to explore all avenues of performing arts. If it weren’t for that, she may have never had the self-confidence to move on from the studio and pursue theater. In high school Vanessa choreographed the high school’s production of “Anything Goes”, performed the lead role in the school play “Big Love” and the theater bug officially bit for good. After graduation she enrolled in Solano Community College earning her Associate Degree in Acting as well as completing the “Actor’s Training Program”. Vanessa attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and was awarded a Full-Ride scholarship and graduating with her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Drama. Immediately following graduation she performed in a showcase for the top agencies in the country. From that showcase she is now represented by Don Buchwald and Associates for Theater/Film/and Television; as well as C.E.S.D. for Commercial/Print Advertising. She continues to do many play readings, networking and of course audition’s. She now resides in New York City and continues to follow her Broadway Bound path… which all started at Stage One Dance Center. Thank You Miss Julie

More to Come…
